Jar Test Guide for Decolorizing Agent, PAC and PAM
A practical jar test workflow for textile dyeing, garment washing and colored industrial wastewater treatment using water decoloring agent, PAC and PAM.
Before You Start
Jar testing should use actual wastewater from the factory. Wastewater composition, pH and color vary by process and production batch.
Prepare Wastewater
Use representative wastewater sample. Record source, color, pH, COD and current treatment process if available.
Prepare Chemicals
Dilute water decoloring agent, PAC and PAM according to test needs. Avoid directly judging by undiluted dosage.
Prepare Comparison
Use blank sample and multiple dosage levels to compare color, floc size, settling speed and clarity.
Recommended Jar Test Sequence
This sequence is suitable for many colored textile and industrial wastewater samples. Adjust by actual result.
Take wastewater sample
Check / adjust pH
Add decoloring agent
Add PAC then PAM if needed
Settle and compare result
Observation Points
- Color reduction speed and final color
- Floc formation and floc density
- Settling speed and sludge volume
- Supernatant clarity after settling
- Whether COD, turbidity or pH target needs further adjustment
| Test Result | Possible Adjustment |
|---|---|
| Color remains high | Adjust water decoloring agent dosage or pH condition |
| Floc is loose | Optimize PAC dosage |
| Settling is slow | Optimize PAM dosage carefully |
| Water becomes cloudy | Check overdosing or dosing sequence |
